Public bit torrent download/ip info is tracked and recorded.

We don't have much to worry about when it comes to downloading punk music since most labels are small and the bands aren't assholes who like to sue people, punk music downloads actually help the bands and I know this first hand.

However, this might put a scare into you if you use public torrent sites such as The Pirate Bay and the meta search engine  The site is and they apparently track a shitload of public trackers, recording ip addresses and time stamps to go with the files you downloaded.

Below is a banner from their site but don't worry, the only person who sees your specific info is you.

Just figured I'd throw this out there, if you use public trackers for illegal activity, you might want to reconsider.

(update, looks like you need to connect using facebook or enter a silly huge captcha to access your info, this must have just been setup as I was able to access it just fine without being logged into facebook)

Media Monkey

This is slightly old news but Media Monkey 4 has been released and if you're a Windows user, you really should be using it, especially if you have a large mp3 collection.  It's super fast, has the easiest/best tagging/organizing features, excellent navigation, can be themed, has a shitload of awesome addons and with version 4, supports video (it pretty much replaced VLC on my windows box).

I use it to load my 320GB collection from a local networked nas server and it opens almost instantly, there simply isn't a better player available on any platform, someone just try to prove me wrong.

It also has iPod/iPhone/all kinds of device support so you can ditch iTunes if you're sick of the pointless updates and bloat that comes with having a friggin store built into your mp3 player.

There are 2 versions of Media Monkey, one version is free and one costs 55 bucks Canadian for a lifetime of updates, or 24 bucks for updates until version 5.  Although it's pretty expensive, it's actually worth it but for you could always take the gold version for a test run by finding a serial online through some torrent site.  There really aren't many important differences between Free and Gold.

Check it out, you'll be glad you did.

Note : The duplicates listed in the screenshot are there because i have these files saved locally to be uploaded to this site, if I had the location tab slid over a bit, you'd see where the files are stored.  This is pretty much an un-customized setup, you can have mini lyrics embedded, move sections around, all kinds of good stuff.

P.S. I'm going to be bringing the software section back soon.

Some punk albums

Way back when this site used to exist, there was no such thing as mediafire, rapidshare etc, I used to make (and have visitors make) all kinds of free web hosting acccounts to upload files to, which would usually be deleted within a week.  Now we have all of these awesome online storage places which will make managing this site so much easier.

There used to be many more mp3 download sites but the sites that exist now have much more music to offer (such as the awesome and I hope to compliment them, not replace them.

Here's a small taste of what's to come.

Bad Brains - Banned in D.C. (192kbps-2003)
Bigwig - Invitation to Tragedy (2001-192kbps)
Bikini Kill - Reject All American (1996-192kbps)
Black Flag - Complete 1982 Demos (1996-192kbps)
Black Flag - My War (1983-192kbps)
Choke - Slow Fade or How I Learned To Question Infinity (2005-192kps)
Choke - There's a Story to This Moral (2002-192kbps)
